Welcome to the Port Jefferson Music Academy. Founded in the fall of 1998, the Port Jefferson Music Academy offers a unique opportunity to study music in a non-competitive educational environment. At the Port Jefferson Music Academy, students explore their musical potential in a supportive and inspiring atmosphere. The Academy embraces a philosophy of communal inclusiveness, by welcoming all those who wish to enrich their lives through exposure to music. Students range from young beginners to college undergraduates majoring in music. Classes for adult amateurs are available.
Among our teachers are faculty members of such renowned institutions as the Mannes College of Music, Queens College Aaron Copland Conservatory of Music, and the School for Strings in New York. Our faculty lead successful careers in teaching, performance and composition. The Academy offers private lessons in violin, viola, cello, piano, guitar, clarinet & flute. A wide variety of courses includes chamber music, composition, music theory, as well as Suzuki and Kindermusik classes for younger students. Regular master classes, recitals and concerts provide students with an opportunity to perform frequently.
The Port Jefferson Music Academy offers a prestigious Suzuki program and is a registered member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas. Our faculty include teachers from the famous School for Strings in Manhattan.
We also offer Kindermusik classes. The Academy is registered with Kindermusik International.
The Academy is centrally located in the lighthouse plaza in downtown Port Jefferson on Long Island's North Shore in Suffolk County. We hope that you will join the rapidly growing number of students who benefit from working with our distinguished faculty in a supportive and creative atmosphere,
Sincerely,
Sophie Arbuckle,
Co-Director
