Make Up Policy Should a faculty member miss a class or private lesson, a make up class or lesson will be offered, unless a substitute teacher was provided.   Faculty are not required to make up any classes or lessons missed by students.  However, at the discretion of the teacher one private lesson per student per semester may be made up, provided that notice of the absence has been given at least 24 hours in advance.  Should a student cancel a make-up lesson appointment, the lesson will be considered made up.   Payment Policy Tuition must be paid at the time of registration to assure a lesson time.  "Regular" and "lessons only" tuition may be paid either for the entire or half semester.  A deferred payment plan is available in case of need.  "Pre-instrumental" and "classes/chamber music only" tuition must be paid for the entire semester.  Tuition includes the selected program of study as well as a registration fee and two tickets to each of the four yearly Faculty Concerts.  There is a $50.00 penalty fee for returned checks.  Checks should be made payable to the Port Jefferson Music Academy. Registration Procedures Registration will take place prior to each new semester.  Specific hours will be posted during which parents are required to contact the school and submit their first payment, as well as discuss scheduling.  Families who do not register during the week of registration will not be guaranteed a place. P.J.M.A. Library Books and CD’s The academy offers a small collection of music books and CD’s available for loan to P.J.M.A. students.  Families may borrow these items free of charge for a maximum of three weeks. Lost items must be either replaced by the borrower, or else a $20.00 lost item fee will be charged. Dress Code for Performance Classes and Concerts Students may dress casually for performance classes. However, please do not wear jeans or sneakers.  For chamber orchestra concerts, please wear as close as possible to a standard orchestra dress; i.e. dark pants, white shirt and a tie for boys, dark skirt and white blouses for girls.  Please no rings, bracelets, or strong perfumes.
